Welcome to our school

Clements School is situated at the heart of the Clements estate on the western side of Haverhill.

Originally built as a Primary school in 1967, it is now a First school with pupils aged from 3 to 9 years. There are usually six main school classes, together with a nursery for 3-4 year olds operating two sessions with up to 26 children attending either session.

The school is a single storey building set in large grounds. There are two playgrounds and one large playing field. One part of the school building houses the administrative wing which comprises a staff kitchen, a staffroom, an office for the Headteacher and the main school office where the Administrative Officer and her assistant work. There is also a Medical room which doubles up as a Deputy Head's office.

The school is light and airy with classrooms either side of the main hall and patio area. Bright colours enhance the building and complement the children's work which is proudly displayed on the walls around the school.

Excellent school meals are prepared on the premises and children eat these in the main school hall. The small dining room houses a mini computer suite which groups of children access throughout the day.

The staff work together as a team, whether they are teachers, classroom assistants, administrative staff, cleaners or mid-day supervisors. All have an important role to play and all have the safety and well-being of the children at the heart of all the work which they do.

The children are warm and friendly. They love visitors and are proud to show them around, talk to them and best of all to sing for them. At least once a year there is a concert to which parents and grandparents are invited, when the children can display their talents in music and drama.

Parents are warmly invited to share in the life of the school. They might accompany the children on school trips, help out in classes, distribute the fresh fruit which the younger children enjoy each day, or join in with fundraising schemes for charity and for school fund.

Our last Ofsted inspection was in April 2008 when the inspectors commented that it was an effective school, operating in challenging circumstances and providing a good education for its pupils.
